“I’m not a conventionally religious person, but I’m spiritual enough to recognize that Dr. Hines was put on this earth to ease the suffering of animals, while also easing the pain their human families experience from their passing. Today, we had to make the very hard decision to put our 15 year old girl, Dakota, to rest. Once we knew it was time to say goodbye, calling Dr. Hines was the best decision we could have made. I’ve dreaded and imagined what her passing would be like every single day for the last 1.5 years or so, but Dr. Hines was kind, compassionate, and calm. Her presence, demeanor, grace, and knowledge ensured that what my partner and I experienced was 10x better than what I’d ever thought possible for this kind of moment. As heart breaking as it was to say goodbye, Dr. Hines was somehow able to make the experience feel more like a celebration of Dakota’s life and our love for her instead of something traumatic. We are finding so much solace in knowing Dakota is at peace, but also because Dr. Hines made the experience so peaceful. We said goodbye to Dakota in her own home, in her own bed, and got to see her off on this new journey as we thanked her for being the best girl and told her how much we love her. I’m so thankful we could be there for her in this way as she passed, and Dr. Hines made that possible. My partner and I will always appreciate how much she turned what could’ve been a traumatic experience into something that I’d dare almost call beautiful.”
